5 Day Morocco Tour Itinerary from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Tizi N’Tichka Pass – Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

The 5-day tour from Marrakech to Fes begins with an early pickup from the airport or your accommodation in Marrakech. You will then drive through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi N’Tichka Pass, with stops to enjoy panoramic views of the stunning landscapes. Next, we visit the Kasbah of Telouat.

Afterward, we continue to the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This kasbah has been featured in numerous films such as Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and TV series like Game of Thrones. We then head to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Skoura Palm Groves – Kasbah Amridil – Valley of Roses – Dades Valley

After breakfast, we explore the city of Ouarzazate. First, we visit the Atlas Studios, where many famous movies were filmed, and also the Kasbah Taourirt, a fortified mud-brick castle and one of Morocco’s oldest and most spectacular ksars.

Next, we head east to visit Kasbah Amridil, surrounded by palm groves in Skoura. We continue to Kalaa Magouna, famous for the Valley of the Roses, where every May a rose festival is held featuring local products such as perfumes, rose water, oils, and cosmetics.

Then we drive to the Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades, with stops at the rock formation called “Monkey Fingers” and a viewpoint overlooking the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Boumalne Dades.

Day 3: Boumalne Dades – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert – Luxury Camp

After breakfast, we continue the tour towards the Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a magnificent canyon with impressive red cliffs. Free time to explore the gorges and enjoy the stunning scenery. Then we drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, with free time to have lunch along the way.

In the afternoon, we arrive at the Sahara Desert in Merzouga, where we switch to camels to cross the dunes. There will be a stop to enjoy the sunset from the top of a dune. Afterwards, we reach the luxury desert camp, where you can enjoy Berber music and dance around the campfire under a starry sky. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 4: Exploration of the Merzouga Region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga Lake – Erg Chebbi – Desert Oasis

Early morning wake-up to enjoy the beautiful sunrise in the heart of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then return by camel to Merzouga, where the driver will be waiting. The day is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region, including dunes, wild lakes, mines, fossil areas, and fabulous oases, perfect for outdoor activities.

The tour begins with a visit to an ancient eyeliner mine, followed by a visit to nomads in their artisan tents, learning about their life while enjoying Berber tea. Next stop is the village of Khamlia, where you will enjoy Gnaoua music and dance performances. Free time for lunch at a local restaurant. Then a walk through a palm grove, continuing a few kilometers to the wild lake of Merzouga, also called the Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 5: Merzouga Dunes – Erfoud – Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes

Wake up early to watch the sunrise in the desert. Free time for breakfast, then return by camel or 4×4 to the meeting point in Merzouga. Depart the desert towards Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalet, still an important commercial center with a large souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After a walk through the souk, continue to Erfoud to visit a fossil marble workshop.

Then drive along the Ziz River, stopping for a panoramic view of the valley. Free time for lunch in Midelt. Continue to the cedar forest, home to Barbary macaques, with the opportunity to feed them. Next, visit Ifrane, famous for its cold climate, snow, and alpine-style houses, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Finally, transfer to the airport or your accommodation in Fes. End of the tour.
