9-Day Morocco Tour Itinerary from TANGIER

Day 1: Pick-up in Tangier – Chefchaouen

Pick-up in Tangier and depart for the Blue City of Chefchaouen, crossing the Rif Mountains and Tetouan. Enjoy the panoramic views until you reach this unique town nestled at the foot of the mountains. Overnight stay in a hotel or riad with breakfast.

Dia 2: Chefchaouen - Asilah - Rabat

After breakfast, we begin the visit of Chefchaouen, one of Morocco’s most unique cities. Discover local life in the blue medina, where alongside souvenir shops you’ll find cobblers, bakers, tailors, and other traditional craftsmen. You can also explore the newer part of the city, featuring examples of Andalusian architecture and a lovely park on Mohammed V Avenue. In the afternoon, we continue to Rabat. Overnight stay in a riad or hotel with breakfast.

Day 3: Tour of Rabat – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, we visit Rabat, the capital of Morocco, including the Hassan Tower. We then continue to Meknes, the 16th-century capital founded by Moulay Ismail, with a guided tour of its historic monuments. Afterwards, we explore the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its mosaics and temples. We then continue to Fes for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Guided Tour of Fes

A full day dedicated to exploring Fes, the oldest of the imperial cities and home to the world’s first university, founded in the 9th century. We will take a guided tour of the medieval medina, the University of Al Quaraouine, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, the Royal Palace, the Ben Danan Synagogue, and the bustling traditional souks.

Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga Dunes

Departure from your hotel in Fes towards Ifrane and Azrou, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop at the cedar forest to see Barbary monkeys in their natural habitat. We continue via the Tizi Ntalghamt pass towards Midelt and the Ziz Gorges, offering spectacular landscapes that mark the transition to the desert. After lunch, we proceed to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga. Following a mint tea break, we leave our luggage and ride camels to the Berber camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, the highest in North Africa. After a one-and-a-half-hour ride, we arrive at the camp to enjoy the sunset, a traditional dinner, drumming music, and an overnight stay in tents.

Day 6: Merzouga Dunes – Todra Gorges – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we depart for Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty. We continue to Tinghir in the High Atlas and take a one-hour walk along the Todra River through palm groves and olive orchards, visiting Berber villages and discovering their traditional way of life. Lunch is served in the stunning Todra Gorges. In the afternoon, we travel through the Dades Valley along the famous Thousand Kasbahs Route, visiting an ancient fortress before arriving in Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel or guesthouse.

Dia 7: Ouarzazate - Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech

After breakfast, we travel to the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987 and the setting for numerous international films. This fortress was an important stop on the Salt Route and caravan trade routes carrying gold, ivory, and silk. We then cross the Tizi n Tichka pass at 2,260 meters in the High Atlas Mountains, stopping to enjoy the views and visit an argan oil cooperative. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon and accommodation in a riad.

Day 8: Guided Tour in Marrakech

Explore Marrakech, known as the Red City. We will visit its most iconic sites, including the Majorelle Gardens, the Koutoubia Tower, the Saadian Tombs, and the Bahia Palace. Lunch at a nearby restaurant, followed by a stroll through the traditional souks, where hundreds of handicrafts can be found. Free afternoon to continue exploring the city at your own pace.

Day 9: Transfer to the Airport

Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to Casablanca or Marrakech airport.
